Friday 2 september 2016 - 18:00 to 19:00
On the occasion of the opening of the cultural season, the Brussels Creative Forum and the Press Club Brussels Europe is inviting you for the KEYNOTE DEBATE: a look upon cultural innovation as engine to reconstruct Europe and the image of Brussels from a media point of view.
The debate is being introduced by Paul Dujardin, CEO and Artistic Director at Bozar, Brussels. The panel of Belgian journalists and European correspondents is introduced by the Press Club Brussels Belgium chairman: Maroun Labaki.
After 1945 Europe was being reconstructed basically on economical and not cultural fundaments. For nearly 60 years, however, the European Project tried to use cultural collaboration in function of a stronger European citizenship. Although the European Treaties hardly mention culture at all.
Our society looks like being Americanized a lot. On the one hand Europe seems to live with a National cultural identity and on the other hand a culture of United States, nonetheless with a European Cultural identity.
Is Europe suffering an illness? And is this caused by losing cultural values? Can art and culture play a role in the rehabilitation of Europe? Can it help the restoration of the image of Brussels? Isn't supporting the European Cultural and Creative Industry the best remedy agains Eurosceptisime?
So, are we ready to really launch the debate about the European cultural identity today?
